Hilary Duff Wears Leather Leggings for "Elixir" Book Signing

Hilary Duff recently wore leather leggings to a NYC book signing for her new book "Elixir."  For the past three years, we've watched the increasing popularity of leather leggings.  Young actress Hilary Duff keeps the timeless style hot by wearing tight leather leggings to her latest book signing.

Fashionistas such as Victoria Beckham are often seen wearing leather leggings.  Once considered racy, leather leggings have now become a wardrobe classic.  No closet is complete today unless you own a pair of well-fitted black leather leggings.  This staple can be dressed up or down to wear anywhere you need to go.  From the office to shopping to a night on the town, leather leggings are perfect for any occasion.

Hilary Duff donned leather leggings with a white tee, black blazer and black heels for formal yet funky appeal.  Leather leggings look fabulous paired with an oversize tunic.  Consider a gold or silver babydoll tank for evenings at the club.  Pair leather leggings with a warm fisherman's sweater for an afternoon date. Wear a silky white blouse and tweed blazer with leather leggings for business meetings.

Hilary Duff showed how versatile and fashionable leather leggings are.  Why not add a new pair of leather leggings or a leather mini skirt to your fall/winter wardrobe?

Leather Leggings, Mary Kate Olsen and Vogue Tips

Leather pants, leather leggings and leather “treggings” (a combination of trousers and leggings) have taken over the Fall and Winter fashion scene. All the top designers are featuring their own versions of leather pants and leggings. Leather leggings are attractive, comfortable and go from casual to dressy with just a few accessories. Mary Kate Ashley is pictured above, wearing leather leggings for a day out and about town.

With everyone donning leather pants and leggings, Pippa Holt, fashion features associate at Vogue, offered some wearing advice. “Keep the silhouette long and lean. Wear them skinny with a tunic top cinched in at the wait by a thin belt. Or for a soft-goth look, pair them with....black fringed cape. If you're wearing them in the evening, take inspiration from Ricardo Tisci at Givenchy and add gold necklaces and a jacket.”

Stylist Emily Barnes also feels leather pants should stay edgy, stating, “Leather trousers should always have a rock edge. The rock wardrobe is their heritage. So wearing them with heels in an Abigail's Party way can look really Sloaney and uncool.”

Despite the fashionistas' advice, people are wearing leather leggings in a variety of different ways. Whether you like to dress them up or down, leather pants are an essential must-have item for your closet.
